  1. Understand exam and syllabus : the first and foremost thing you need to do is that understand the syllabus and the pattern of the exam including all the 3 tiers. download the complete syllabus and exam pattern, take its print out and stick it in your study room and keep referring to it for constant analysis of your preparation.
  2. Select best books: there are some many books for the exam and most of them are just a waste of money and your precious time. so, make a wise selection of books and don’t read multiple books on a single topic. instead of reading three different books read a single book thrice. that would be more effective.
  3. Know Your weak and strong areas: after a thorough analysis of the syllabus find out the topics you know well and the topics which are aliens to you and you really need to put efforts into them. note down your weak and strong areas and start working on it. keep increasing you strong areas list.
  4. make a smart study schedule: make a planned and smart study schedule as per your daily engagements. schedule should be such that you make best out of it. it should not be exhaustive there should be continuous breaks after an hour. this way you will have greater outcomes. we know that our mind can’t concentrate on a particular thing for a long time it needs some diversions at regular intervals.
  5. Give preference to important topics: give more preference to English and Quant section as these two are the most important sections of the exam. but don’t ignore the GS portion completely. divide your time such that you should be able to score at least 25 marks in GS otherwise it might create problems for you.
  6. Revise and revise: Revision is the only tool if you have any difficulty in a particular topic. if you don’t have more time for the revision make a chart of important formulae and tricks and hang it out in your study room’s wall.
  7. Be focused: in the digital era there are so many distractions so try to avoid them. devote your most of the time to self study only. Go to net only when when you need some guidance. try to avoid facebook and whatsapp as much as possible. keep your mobile phone in Do not disturb mode most of the time. give you maximum energy to the exam preparation only.
