A thief is spotted by a policeman from a distance of  100 metres. when the  policeman starts the chase, the thief also starts running. If the spped of the thief be 8km/hr and that of policeman 10km/hr, how far the thief will have run before he is overtaken?

Pankul can you solve this in easy manner?

Let policeman catches the thief in x hr.

distance run by the thief in x hours =8x km

distance run by the policeman in x hours=10x km

10x =8x + 100/1000

2x= 1/10

so , x=1/20

so distance run by the thief  =8x=8*1/20

                                                             =0.4 km

                                                               i.e. 400 meter
